Personal Development

We believe that students deserve a broad and ambitious Personal Development curriculum, rich in skills, experiences and knowledge, which ignites curiosity and prepares them well for future learning and employment as citizens within wider society. Our Personal Development curriculum will give students the opportunity to:

  • Explore different cultures, beliefs and opinions to develop students understanding of the world and to help the to create their own views about relevant issues through Life lessons;
  • Enjoy a wide range of opportunities to explore ethics, philosophy, economic wellbeing in relation to modern life through Life lessons and the wider curriculum offer.
  • Develop cultural capital that will help remove barriers to achievement in school, future learning and the world of work;
  • Experience learning that is ‘outside the academic’ throughout an ambitious CEIAG offer throughout the year;
  • Produce ‘meaningful work’ of which they can be proud;
  • Articulate and express their ideas, views and opinions about a wide range of topics clearly, confidently and respectfully;
  • Develop their character, including resilience, confidence and independence, so that they contribute positively to the life of the school, their local community and the wider environment.
  • Students are offered the opportunity to participate in physical and sporting activities, with performance in local, regional and national sports events.
  • Our Student Leadership Group (SLG) represent the student voice at half termly meetings where links are being built with the local community to help students to be real-world ready to be active participants in their society.
