Uniform

School Dress and Appearance 

Uniform pic

  • Filey school black blazer with school badge to be worn at all times* 
  • Plain black v-neck jumper (as an option to wear under the blazer)
  • Plain white shirt (long or short sleeved)
  • Filey School tie* 
  • Plain black school straight leg trousers, straight cut, slightly flared or boot cut. These must not be tight fitting.
  • Black socks or black tights 
  • Plain black sensible leather school shoes (not boots, trainers, suede or canvas pumps/sandals)
  • Girls may wear a Filey School green skirt with school logo or black trousers as described above*

Students who wear items relating to their faith, such as a turban or headscarf, should do so in line with school colours, which are black or green. Students may wear any sensible and acceptable outdoor coat outside the school building with the following acceptations: 

  • Pictures, designs, football badges, pop group emblems, and sweatshirts with hoods are not allowed.
  • Camouflage, military style, denim or leather coats or jackets are not allowed. 

Students who arrive in trainers, shoes with coloured logos or stiletto or platform soled shoes will be provided with shoes to wear during the school day. Students who arrived without correct uniform will be expected to borrow.  img-original-1032

Uniform must always be worn smartly. This means:  

  • Top button done up
  • Shirt tucked in 
  • Skirts not rolled. 

All logo uniform; ties, blazers, skirt are to be purchased from Rumours, 17 Victoria Road, Scarborough, YO11 1SB. Current 2023/2024 price list: 

  • Blazer badged £37.00
  • Skirt £17.50
  • Tie £6.00
  • PE polo £16.00
  • PE shorts £11.00 

Appearance rules:

  • Hair must be unobtrusively styled and in naturally-occurring tones. 
  • Nail varnish is not permitted in school. 
  • Any make up used must be discreet (looking entirely natural). Excessive make- up will have to be removed. 
  • No false eyelashes of any description are permitted. 
  • One pair of small ear studs may be worn in the lower lobe. No other items of jewellery are allowed (i.e. necklaces, rings, bracelets, nose studs/rings, tongue studs or eyebrow studs). 
  • A watch may be worn, but smartwatches are not permitted. 

Additional Points  

  • If T-shirts are worn under shirts they must not be visible or display any slogans or images. 
  • Scarves are not to be worn in the school buildings. 
  • Sweatshirts, hoodies and non-school jumpers are not allowed to be worn on the school premises. 
  • Baseball caps and other headgear are not allowed to be worn on the school premises. 
  • All items of clothing and personal kit should be clearly marked with the student’s name. This will help in recovering lost property.

Equipment

The following items are essential and should be brought on a daily basis: 

  • School planner
  • Black pen, purple pen, pencil, ruler
  • Scientific calculator


Physical Education

Compulsory PE kit

  • Training shoes
  • Black football socks
  • Filey School shorts or leggings available from Rumours*
  • Filey School polo shirt available from Rumours*
  • NO JEWELLERY

Optional PE kit

  • Football boots and shin pads
  • Filey School fleece*
  • Filey School rugby shirt*
  • Plain black tracksuit bottoms or leggings
  • Plain black under skin
  • Plain black beanie hat and gloves
